What is a Facebook ad? Have you seen that Twitter-like thing mixed with a banner ad at the right side of your Facebook page? Those are Facebook ads. And did you know that the ads that appear on the right side of your page are not the same ads that might appear on the same space at your friend’s page?

Just like Google, Facebook ads allow you to select your target market, set a budget and provide analytics. You also have a choice on how many times you’d like your ads to appear or just pay for clicks. But unlike Google, Facebook allows more interactivity in one page. You could become a fan of a page, participate in events or watch a video all in one page. This is a great way of marketing your products and services as you already have caught the attention of your target market in one single sweep. And since it’s supposed to be a social platform, ads must be engaging enough to your “fans” so to speak as they are already bombarded with lots of ads outside of Facebook.

Additionally, you also have three (3) choices of how you’d like your ads to appear. You could use the regular Facebook Pay Per Click text ad, a Facebook graphic ad with an image or Facebook’s unique interactive ads, or otherwise known as engagement ads. However, you will have to order the engagement ads through an advertising sales representative, as they are not available in their automatic system.
